TRANSFORMERS:

Next-Gen Battle Center

Client: DMG Entertainment

Client: Hasbro

Role: Director of Attractions & Theming

Front Entrance

This was a truly massive project. More than 15,000 square meters of ceiling to floor theming. Mixed reality integration across the entire facility. Close client relations with both Hasbro (brand image) and DMG (budget and execution).

There was a very lean team onboard to handle all aspects of this project in-house.

Design, construction, tech integration, coding, in-engine development, through to on-site operations with a service and repair center to allow for an ongoing self-sustaining environment which was able to avoid downtime, and expand rapidly.

I came in to the project with the role of Director of attractions & theming, although my duties would grow to encompass aspects of the entire project. Landing in Shanghai in Mar 2019 and staying for the next 9 months straight, traversing the country visiting manufacturers across every conceivable industry. Integrating those components while relating build logs (virtual and physical) integrating the 4 opening day mixed reality attractions with park-wide interactive immersive environment. Roles included overseeing and personally drafting concept images, performing complete digital pre-builds, lighting design, sourcing components for custom fabrications & attractions, electrical draw & structural engineering assessments. This then needed to be integrated in engine to allow for full body tracking across facility, before themed elements were constructed on-site. We then entered a rigorous testing and evaluation period.

With an amazing team we were able to pull together and be open to the public for Golden Week 2020. What an amazing ride.
